꽃흰목이버섯(Tremella fuciformis)

투명하고 젤리처럼 말랑한 형태의 꽃흰목이버섯(Tremella fuciformis)이 여름비에 젖은 나무껍질 사이에서 꽃처럼 피어 있다. 이름 그대로 꽃잎을 닮은 겹겹의 형태가 인상적이며, 우리나라에서도 드물게 볼 수 있는 야생 버섯이다. 동아시아에서는 예로부터 차나 디저트 재료로 활용되어 왔고, 한방에서는 면역 강화와 피부 미용에 좋다고 알려져 있다. 숲속 그늘에서 은은히 빛나는 이 버섯은, 자연이 숨겨놓은 또 하나의 조용한 예술작품이다.

Translucent and delicately folded, the jelly-like fungus known as White Jelly Fungus (Tremella fuciformis) clings to the moist bark after summer rain. In Korea, it’s called “꽃흰목이버섯,” literally “flower white jelly mushroom,” named for its petal-like layers that resemble blooming flowers. Valued both as a rare wild fungus and a medicinal food, it’s often used in teas and desserts in East Asia. Glowing softly in the forest shade, it reminds us how beauty often hides in the quietest corners of nature.
