Yebongsan, standing at an elevation of 683.2 meters, is located in Namyangju, South Korea. It is connected to Jeokgapsan, which is about 1.5 kilometers away along the ridge. Locally, it has been known as Sarangsan, while historical documents refer to it as Yebinsan (禮賓山) or Yebongsan (禮蜂山). During the Japanese colonial period, it was recorded as Yebongsan (禮峯山) in the "Joseon Geography Data" by the Governor-General of Korea, indicating that the name likely became formalized during that era. The mountain was densely forested and served as a vital source of firewood for nearby areas and Seoul during the Joseon Dynasty. Hiking Routes There are several hiking routes to Yebongsan, originating from Paldang-ri, Joan-ri, and Jogok. From Paldang-ri, hikers can start at the Paldang 2-ri bus stop (Hanilkwan) and follow the alley towards the railroad, passing under the tunnel and taking the path in front of the village hall. The trail then follows the valley, enters the forest near the deer ranch, and ascends steeply past a junction that leads to Jodong. A resting spot is reached before continuing along the ridge to the summit. Scenic Views At the summit, hikers are rewarded with views of Paldang Bridge, the Han River, Geomdansan, and Ungilsan. Descending from the northwest ridge of the summit, hikers can follow a major path towards Saegwangsa Temple and Paldang, climbing the 630-meter peak and navigating a forest path to reach Jeokgapsan. Typically, hikers descend through Jeokgapsan to Dogok-ri. Hiking Yebongsan alone takes about 3 hours, while including Jeokgapsan extends the descent to a total of 3 hours and 40 minutes.
